In this Drum Birthing Workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of creating your own traditional frame drum using natural materials and time-honoured techniques.
This is a hands-on day.
A chance to slow down, work with your hands, and bring an instrument into being from raw materials.
Throughout the workshop you’ll prepare, lace, tension, and complete your drum, learning about its construction, care, and the role drums have played in communities and ceremonies across cultures for thousands of years.
As the drum takes shape, many people find themselves developing a deeper connection with the instrument.
Not because it’s bought.
Because it’s made.
By your own hands.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a completed drum, a beater, and the knowledge needed to continue building a relationship with the instrument you’ve created.
Whether your drum is used for meditation, sound journeys, personal reflection, music, or ceremony, it will be uniquely yours.
Set within a peaceful and supportive environment, this workshop offers the opportunity to step away from the distractions of everyday life and create something meaningful, practical, and lasting.
Preparing for Your Drum Birthing Day
This is a full-day workshop running from 10:00am to 6:00pm, so please come prepared for a comfortable and enjoyable day.
Please bring:
-A camping chair or comfortable chair for seating throughout the day
-A cushion if you would like the option of sitting on the floor during teaching or sharing sessions
– Food, snacks and a bottle of water, as meals are not provided
– Comfortable clothing suitable for working with natural materials
– An apron or old clothes if you would like to protect your clothing
– A notebook and pen if you’d like to make notes
Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
