The Aging Well Festival – Brighton & Hove

The Ageing Well Festival is a two-week celebration of events and activities tailored for individuals aged 50 and above, taking place at various venues across Brighton and Hove. Coinciding with the United Nations designated International Day of Older Persons on October 1st, this festival has been organised by Impact Initiatives, on behalf of Brighton and Hove City Council, since 2013. Over the years, the festival has evolved and expanded, reaching more people and offering an improved experience each year.
With a packed and diverse program of events, the festival aims to inspire older individuals to actively participate in the vibrant Brighton and Hove community. Last year’s festival boasted almost 150 events hosted by 74 different businesses and organisations, across 58 venues throughout the city. From cherished favourites like vintage Routemaster bus trips, to new and exciting activities such as cooking with Momma Cheri and a sunset boat trip with Sussex Dolphin Society, there was something for everyone. In total, over 4,000 people participated in the festivities.
This year’s Ageing Well Festival will run from 25th September to 9th October 2026. The theme is ‘Explore more, Connect more, Enjoy more’ and was decided in collaboration with our Lived Experience Advisory Group.
The Ageing Well Brighton and Hove annual festival provides opportunities for people aged 50 and over to explore new experiences and meet new people. The festival is a celebration of Brighton and Hove as a City in which to age well, to highlight the many activities that help reduce isolation and increase well-being in the older population.
